【Project Scale and Content】The project covers a total area of 1,280,000.00 m², including 1,072,818.4 m² for raw material extraction, 72,000 m² for crushing operations, 110,000 m² for production workshops, laboratories, and warehouses, and 25,000 m² for office and residential areas. Supporting facilities such as landscaping, roads, environmental protection systems, and power engineering will be constructed. Complete sets of production equipment and facilities will be procured. Upon full operation, the project will produce 100,000 tons annually of basalt continuous fiber products.
【Rationale and Conditions for Construction】Continuous Basalt Fiber (CBF) is a purely natural, non-synthetic high-tech fiber made from natural volcanic rock (basalt). It is produced by melting the raw material at 1,450–1,500°C and then extruding it through a platinum-rhodium alloy spinneret to form continuous fibers. Using CBF as a reinforcement, various composite materials can be manufactured. Compared with other high-tech fibers such as carbon fiber, aramid, and ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene fiber, CBF not only offers high strength and high modulus but also excels in heat resistance, oxidation resistance, radiation resistance, thermal insulation, soundproofing, filtration efficiency, compression and shear strength, and adaptability across diverse environments. Additionally, CBF provides excellent cost-performance ratio and is a purely natural inorganic non-metallic material. CBF and its composites are widely used in national defense, transportation, construction, petrochemicals, environmental protection, electronics, aviation, and aerospace industries, offering broad market prospects.

The development of Fujian's new materials industry is accelerating, with increasing industrial clustering effects, gradual improvement of the innovation system, and continuous enrichment of new material varieties. A group of leading backbone enterprises has been cultivated, including CATL, San'an Optoelectronics, Wanhua Chemical (Fujian), Xiamen Tungsten, Fuyao Glass, Tsingshan Group, Zijin Mining Group, Highsun Group, and Eversun Group. Leveraging the driving role of these leading enterprises, Fujian has established a number of distinctive new materials clusters with certain influence domestically and internationally, focusing on optoelectronic information materials, advanced chemical materials, new energy materials, advanced non-ferrous metal materials, rare earth new materials, stainless steel, and advanced textile functional materials. 4 industrial clusters have been selected as national-level characteristic clusters for small and medium-sized enterprises: the Fuzhou Changle Textile New Materials Cluster, the Shaowu Fluorine New Materials Cluster, the Jinjiang Sports Shoes Raw and Auxiliary Materials Cluster, and the Wuping Display Module and Material Manufacturing Cluster. The Ningde Wanwu Stainless Steel Industrial Park has been recognized as a national-level new industrialization demonstration base.
