As one of the main events of the 2026 World Maritime Equipment Conference, the Fujian Marine Economy Industry Cooperation and Innovation Development Conference was held in Fuzhou.
On the 16th, the Fujian Marine Economy Industry Cooperation and Innovation Development Conference was held in Fuzhou.
The conference released the 2026 Outstanding Practice Cases of Global Sustainable Maritime Innovation and the 2026 Global Sustainable Maritime Innovation Outlook.
At this year’s World Maritime Equipment Conference, Fujian Province facilitated investment matchmaking for 124 projects with a total investment of 75.3 billion yuan. Of these, 30 projects have been included for tracking in the “Fujian Province Full Lifecycle Project Management Platform.” They include Fujian Shipbuilding Industry Group (FSIGC)’s project for 16 87,000-ton multipurpose grain carriers; the “Fuyuanyu 9666” Antarctic krill fishing vessel; Xiamen Nier Electronic Technology Co., Ltd.’s R&D and production base for high-current busbars for offshore wind power and ship power transmission and distribution; Haokun Biotechnology’s facility for producing 200 metric tons of small-molecule peptides annually; COSCO SHIPPING Specialized Carriers’ vessel project; and Dongshan County’s project for Chinese bahaba germplasm conservation and seed-industry revitalization. All are expected to begin construction by the end of this year or in the first half of next year.
Pernille Dahlgaard, Chief Officer of Government, Business & Analytics at the Mærsk Mc-Kinney Møller Center for Zero Carbon Shipping, stated that the global shipping industry is accelerating its transition toward green and low-carbon operations, with rapid advancements in ship propulsion and engine technology, as well as continuous breakthroughs in sustainable energy and new marine fuels. China plays an important leading role in advancing the availability of green fuels, their cost-effectiveness, and their large-scale application.
She called on all countries to prepare for the transition in advance, accelerate the development of green port infrastructure, lay a solid hardware foundation for the widespread adoption of electric ships, and work together to promote the sustainable development of the shipping industry.
The conference also released the Fujian Provincial Marine Economy Investment and Cooperation Guide, which identifies 12 key marine industries. It details the development foundations, representative enterprises, development priorities, and industrial-park platforms for each sub-sector, along with a list of 246 cooperation opportunities, to facilitate targeted connections for investors.
