On August 11, Longyan City convened a special meeting to advance the paired cooperation with Guangzhou. Work reports were reviewed, next steps were outlined, and measures were discussed to achieve further progress in Guangzhou-Longyan paired collaboration. Yu Hongsheng, Secretary of the CPC Longyan Municipal Committee, chaired the meeting and delivered remarks, with Mayor Hu Sheng in attendance. Also present were city leaders Yang Yi, Chen Xiasheng, Liao Shenhong, Gao Dingbo, Wang Zhihong, Xiu Hong, Jian Hongkun, Wang Bo, and Liu Youhong, along with key officials from Xinluo District and relevant municipal departments.

The meeting highlighted the importance of enhancing cooperation mechanisms, strengthening regular communication and coordination, and implementing systems such as joint meetings between party and government leaders, departmental exchanges, and district/county pairings to ensure more precise and efficient collaboration between the two cities. It also stressed the need to deepen industrial cooperation, explore models like “Guangzhou R&D + Longyan Manufacturing”, establish “innovation enclaves” for Longyan enterprises, and leverage complementary strengths and resource sharing to drive industrial transformation and upgrading in Longyan. Additionally, efforts should focus on key areas, accelerating infrastructure development, deepening education and healthcare paired support, continuing the “One Million Guangzhou Residents Visit Longyan” campaign, and further improving public welfare.

Since the launch of paired cooperation between Guangzhou and Longyan in 2022, the two cities have implemented 93 industrial projects with a total investment of RMB 68.8 billion, established partnerships between 34 key Guangzhou schools and 38 Longyan schools, and collaborated to develop 119 key clinical specialties while setting up 61 expert workstations through joint efforts by Guangzhou’s renowned hospitals and doctors. In 2024, their exemplary cooperation model gained national recognition, with their performance rated as “excellent”.
