On May 18, the 27th Cross-Strait Fair for Economy and Trade opened in Fuzhou. Zhou Zuyi, Secretary of the CPC Fujian Provincial Committee and Chairperson of the Standing Committee of the Fujian Provincial People's Congress, delivered a speech at the opening ceremony and officially announced the commencement of the event. Pan Xianzhang, Deputy Director of the Taiwan Work Office of the CPC Central Committee and Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, attended the event and delivered a speech. Guo Ningning, Member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Fujian Provincial Committee and Secretary of the CPC Fuzhou Municipal Committee, presided over the opening ceremony.

On behalf of the CPC Fujian Provincial Committee and the Fuzhou Municipal People's Government, Zhou Zuyi extended a warm welcome to all guests and expressed sincere gratitude to those who have long supported Fujian’s development and promoted exchanges and cooperation between Fujian and Taiwan. Zhou Zuyi stated that, over the years, the Cross-Strait Fair for Economy and Trade has continuously expanded and improved by exploring new approaches, setting benchmarks, and promoting integration. It has become a highly influential platform for economic and trade exchanges and cooperation between both sides of the Strait, playing a positive role in deepening the integrated development of Fujian and Taiwan.

Zhou Zuyi emphasized that cross-strait exchanges and cooperation reflect the aspirations of the people and represent the prevailing trend. Fujian will thoroughly study and implement the key instructions delivered by General Secretary Xi Jinping during his recent inspection of the province, resolutely carrying out the decisions and plans of the CPC Central Committee. The province will focus on strengthening competitive industries in Fujian-Taiwan cooperation, enhancing mechanisms for promoting major projects in integrated Fujian-Taiwan development, and working together to foster and expand emerging industrial clusters. Efforts will be made to build high-quality platforms for Fujian-Taiwan cooperation, promote comprehensive connectivity of cross-strait infrastructure, and actively explore the establishment of pilot zones for a cross-strait common market. Fujian will also strive to create a favorable environment for Fujian-Taiwan cooperation, promote the liberalization and facilitation of investment and trade between Fujian and Taiwan, and ensure that Taiwanese compatriots and enterprises can invest, develop, and live in Fujian with confidence and peace of mind. These initiatives aim to further strengthen economic and trade ties between Fujian and Taiwan and accelerate the development of a demonstration zone for integrated cross-strait development. Zhou Zuyi expressed his sincere hope that compatriots and enterprises from Taiwan will uphold the greater national interest, seize the opportunities of the times, bravely shoulder the responsibilities of this era, and work together to promote the peaceful and integrated development of cross-strait relations. He called on all parties to share development opportunities, build a harmonious homeland, and create a bright future together.

Provincial leaders Wu Xielin and Wang Yongli, as well as Li Yizhong, President of the China Federation of Industrial Economics, attended the ceremony. Li Zhenghong, President of the Association of Taiwan Investment Enterprises on the Mainland, was also present and delivered a speech. At the opening ceremony, the second batch of pilot policies for the Fuzhou-Matsu "Shared Life Circle" was announced. In addition, signing ceremonies were held between platform enterprises and Taiwanese-invested projects, along with a centralized signing event for Taiwanese-funded and Taiwanese-invested enterprises. The event was attended by senior officials from relevant provincial departments, representatives from each prefecture-level city and the Pingtan Comprehensive Experimental Zone, as well as delegates from cross-strait business associations, Taiwanese compatriots, and Taiwan-funded enterprises.

This year's Cross-Strait Fair for Economy and Trade, themed "Deepening Cross-Strait Integration and Building a Shared Homeland", will showcase the landmark achievements of Fujian’s efforts in developing a demonstration zone for integrated cross-strait growth. The event aims to further strengthen economic and trade cooperation, while continuously showcasing the effectiveness of the investment promotion platform.
