Fujian recently released the New Materials and New Products Catalog in Fujian Province (First Batch), intending to include 50 products such as the wet curtain from Aolan (Fujian) Industry Co., Ltd. and the high-strength wear-resistant thin-wall stainless steel pipe from Fujian Shengdatong Energy Saving Technology Co., Ltd.

The new materials industry is a strategic sector for the national economy, playing a foundational role. It is also one of the fastest-growing emerging industries, with high levels of innovation and rapid development in the current technological revolution and industrial transformation. In 2021, our province introduced and implemented the first special policy to benefit enterprises in the key new materials sector. Over the past three years, by leveraging special financial funds, it has guided and supported key producers of new materials in speeding up the promotion, application, and demonstration.

Industrial growth depends on a conducive environment. Fujian has been actively promoting the inclusion of outstanding products in the national directory. In 2021, 34 key new material products with advantages from Fujian Province were named in the Guidance Catalog for Initial Batch Application Demonstration of Key New Materials issued by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology In 2023, a total of 59 new material products from our province were included in the Catalog, marking a 25 increase from 2021. This has strengthened the influence and dominant position of our key new materials in the niche industry sector.

To consolidate the advantages of new materials with distinctive features, in 2023, our province has also compiled the Support Reference Catalog for Productive Applications of the Initial Batch of Key New Materials in Fujian Province (2022 Edition). This catalog incorporates 82 key new material products that have made significant breakthroughs in technological innovation and performance indicators, filling industry gaps. These products have been added to the provincial directory for encouragement and support. Notably, 12 of these products 12 have achieved technical indicators at the forefront of the international level.

According to incomplete statistics, the annual average growth rate of the output value of new materials in our province exceeded 18% from 2020 to 2022, indicating a rapid development trend. As of 2023, Fujian boasts 29 top industrial enterprises in the new materials sector and over 15 enterprises achieving an output value exceeding RMB 5 billion. Additionally, more than 26 enterprises have been recognized as national single-item manufacturing champions. Furthermore, there are over 57 “Little Giant” enterprises along with more than 165 enterprises that use specialized and sophisticated technologies to produce novel and unique products.
