The Xiamen Area of China (Fujian) Free Trade Zone, or Xiamen FTZ, held a presentation on local investment opportunities on Sept 9 as a sideline event of the ongoing China International Fair for Investment and Trade (CIFIT) in Xiamen, Fujian province.
Themed on "Innovation, Opening-up, Win-win and Development", the presentation is aimed at promoting Xiamen FTZ's business environment, attracting investors from home and abroad, and seizing the opportunities brought by the CIFIT to boost the high-quality development of Xiamen FTZ, according to the organizers.
He Dongning, director of the administrative committee of Xiamen FTZ, said that Xiamen FTZ is committed to creating a world-class business environment by pioneering institution innovation and attaches great importance to two-way investment and cooperation.
Xiamen FTZ is actively developing international trade, cross-border e-commerce and offshore trade, and is embracing huge opportunities from the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) agreement to expand opening-up to the outside world.
During the event, 27 projects with a total investment of about 7.96 billion yuan ($1.15 billion) were signed, covering the headquarters economy, international trade, supply chain, shipping logistics, financial services, digital economy and other fields. Among them, the Sino-Czech Aviation Industrial Park is a cooperation project between Chinese companies and Czech company ELDIS.
Ales Kucera, the representative of ELDIS in China, said in an interview that the excellent business opportunities and quality services, complete supply chain, abundant human resources and ideal transportation are among the biggest reasons why ELDIS chose to invest in Xiamen.
Vladimir Tomsik, Czech ambassador to China, said in his speech that he delivered at the event that the Sino-Czech cooperation project will significantly increase cooperation between both companies and countries.
Tomsik also said that Xiamen FTZ can serve as a base for many technologically advanced Chinese companies who have investments in the Czech Republic and other countries of Europe.
Nelson Ng, Singapore Consul-General in Xiamen, also attended the event and delivered a speech. He said that Singapore and Fujian enjoy close economic ties and he looks forward to more Singapore companies investing in Fujian and working together with Fujian companies to expand and broaden their economic ties.
