The 2nd RCEP Cooperation Forum was successfully held in Xiamen city, East China's Fujian province, with the aim of promoting high-quality implementation of RCEP and regional economy on Sept 8, the same day a major international investment fair was launched in the city.
The 22nd China International Fair for Investment, which will run until Sept 11, also known as CIFIT, will host over 60 events to promote international investment and trade.
RCEP is the acronym for the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership accord, a huge new Asia-Pacific trading club introduced earlier this year – with China as a member – which will see tariffs and taxes between partner countries shrink dramatically.
Hosted by China Council for International Investment Promotion, or CCIIP, the forum was themed on "high-level opening up and high-quality regional development".
Officials, experts and business representatives were invited to interpret relevant policies, explore trade and investment opportunities brought by RCEP cooperation and offer their ideas to inject new growth impetus to the global economy.
Ma Xiuhong, director of the CCIIP, gives a speech during the 2nd RCEP Cooperation Forum, a parallel event during the 22nd CIFIT, via video link on Sept 8.
Ma Xiuhong, director of the CCIIP, said that the effective implementation of the RCEP will not only further enhance the economic and trade cooperation between China and other members, but also promote global economic development.
During the forum, experts and officials also delivered speeches on the benefits the RCEP agreement has brought, explored high-quality implementation of RCEP, and explored cooperation and facilitation measures.
On top of that, a high-end dialogue was held to share the opportunities the RCEP has brought to e-commerce, agricultural products and other related industries.
Several business representatives including Yu Lu, vice president of China Chamber of Commerce of Import & Export of Foodstuffs, Native Produce & Animal By-Products (CFNA), attended it and offered their suggestions on the implementation of RCEP.
