On the 24th, the Fujian Administration for Market Regulation (Intellectual Property Administration) released the Fujian Province Trademarks and Geographical Indications Development Report (2023). Last year, Fujian saw an increase of 229,461 effectively registered trademarks, bringing the total to 2,461,620. This marks an 8.1% increase from the previous year, placing the province seventh nationwide. Among all prefecture-level cities nationwide, Quanzhou leads the nation with 765,467 effectively registered trademarks and ranks second with a total of 654 effective geographical indication (GI) trademarks. In addition, Zhangzhou tops all prefecture-level cities nationwide with a total of 155 effective GI trademarks. Fujian also leads the nation with a total of 3,037 approved GI special symbols. Fujian's Trademark and Brand Development Index has consistently ranked in the top seven nationally for multiple consecutive years.
Zhangzhou, Nanping, and Ningde lead the way as the top three prefecture-level cities in terms of the number of GI trademarks, with 155, 110, and 94 GI trademarks respectively, collectively representing 55% of all GI trademarks in Fujian.
In recent years, Fujian has been actively advancing reforms to streamline the trademark registration process. Last year, a total of 10,687 applications were processed for new registrations, modifications, and renewals. Fujian has also set up 135 trademark and brand guidance centers, each with its unique features, offering specialized services for enterprises in trademark and brand development.
