The China National Intellectual Property Administration has recently announced the list of key demonstration and pilot cities and counties for the new round of the national intellectual property rights (IPR) program. A total of 9 cities and counties in our province have been selected for the national IPR program. Quanzhou City has been designated as a key demonstration city, while Nanping City has been designated as a key pilot city. Cangshan District in Fuzhou City and Dehua County in Quanzhou City have been designated as key counties for the program. Jin’an District and Mawei District in Fuzhou City, Changtai District in Zhangzhou City, Shanghang County, and Wuping County in Longyan City have been designated as key pilot counties.

In recent years, the Fujian Administration for Market Regulation (Fujian Intellectual Property Administration) dedicated itself to establishing Fujian as a “key IPR province”. They have prioritized implementing pilot programs and demonstrations as the initial step, while fully utilizing the influential and driving role of IPR pilot and demonstration cities, counties, and parks. Their aim is to comprehensively enhance the level of IPR creation, application, protection, management, and service. In 2023, 183 enterprises in the province were named national demonstration enterprises with exceptional IPR advantages, while 195 enterprises were recognized as provincial enterprises with exceptional IPR advantages. Also, 2 cases were chosen in the 2nd batch of typical cases for the national IPR power program.

In the upcoming phase, our province will focus closely on the new requirements of IPR work in the new era. We will strengthen the creation, protection, and application of IPR, accelerate the commercialization of patent results into actual productivity, improve the policy system for the commercialization and application of IPR, and perfect the IPR service mechanism for innovation and entrepreneurship. We will achieve these by concentrating on work deployment, integrating project resources, and gathering the combined efforts of all parties, with the aim of comprehensively accelerating the process of making Fujian into a key IPR province.
