Days ago, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology published the 2023 5G Factory Directory, and CATL 5G factory has been included on the list.

In 2022, CATL collaborated with China Mobile in establishing the world’s largest 5G private network, spanning 17 production bases across Fujian, Jiangsu, Sichuan, Germany, and other domestic and international locations. The total area covered exceeds 8 million square meters. The network deeply integrates into various production and operation processes such as cell manufacturing, intelligent control, warehousing logistics, and after-sales monitoring with the connection of over 13,000 5G terminals.

The 5G cloud-based factory application has features such as encrypted data browsing and electronic equipment inspections. It achieves seven goals, including eliminating paper documents and preventing data theft. The 5G machine vision conducts unified AI computations on quality inspection images collected from coating production lines at various bases. It remotely issues parameter optimization instructions to central control servers on production lines, and reduces the product defect rate from one in a million to one in a billion in combination with relevant quality inspection processes. As for the 5G logistics scheduling, Automated Guided Vehicles (AGV) are utilized to enable automatic cell launch and material transportation, significantly improving the distribution precision and inventory turnover. Additionally, nine major application scenarios, such as 5G augmented reality, 5G data collection, and 5G automatic inspection, are widely applied in CATL global factories.

5G technology not only breaks spatial constraints but also further unleashes the “extreme manufacturing” potential of CATL global factories, promoting their “smart transformation” to green and low-carbon practices. Whether it’s 5G cloud-based factories, 5G augmented reality, or 5G energy consumption management, significant achievements have been made in energy conservation and emission reduction.
