Environmentally friendly investments emphasized in 22nd edition of event held in Xiamen
The ongoing 22nd China International Fair for Investment and Trade being held in Xiamen, East China's Fujian province, is introducing a new variety of options to serve global investors.
Organized by the Ministry of Commerce, the event will last until Sunday. Focusing on high-level opening-up and economic cooperation, it is functioning as an investment promotion platform with global influence.
Titled "Global Development: Sharing Digital Opportunities, Investing in Green Future," CIFIT is holding a total of 41 key conferences and forums. A group of national-level business associations will hold six events, including an international cooperation forum under the framework of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership.
There are also 19 major events held by the Ministry of Commerce and other government bodies, which include a forum to address the sustainable investment in BRICS members-Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa-the 2022 overseas Chinese investment summit and the Gulangyu Forum.
Authoritative information will be released through business reports such as the Guidelines for Foreign Investment in China, the National Development Report on Chinese-funded Enterprises and a report on the investment of the five BRICS members.
As one of the investment events with international influence, CIFIT continues to optimize its effect via three key platforms, which are investment promotion events, authoritative information releases and investment trend discussions. All countries are welcomed to showcase their business highlights and embrace new cooperation opportunities here, said Li Yong, deputy head of the Investment Promotion Agency of the Ministry of Commerce.
There will also be forums to discuss international investment hot spots and trends in depth. Two subforums will address development opportunities in the fields of the digital economy and green chemicals.
The Gulangyu Forum will function as an exchange platform serving foreign-funded enterprises, foreign institutions, domestic governments and industrial parks to explore future cooperation possibilities.
In the 120,000-square-meter exhibition areas, there are 13 exhibition areas under the scope of three major parts, namely the investment promotion hall, the industrial innovation and development hall and the project and capital matchmaking hall.
The United Nations Industrial Development Organization, embassies and consulates, business associations and investment promotion agencies from 48 countries and regions including South Korea, Japan and Austria are among major participants at the exhibition.
Regarding domestic participants, there are exhibitors from 26 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities. A highlighted exhibition of Chinese cities as investment hot spots, which is set up for the first time at CIFIT, has attracted 18 Chinese cities including Shenyang, Zibo and Guiyang.
Countries and regions around the world are also actively taking advantage of CIFIT's one-stop services to showcase their images and brands.
South Korea, as the guest country of honor at this year's CIFIT, has set up a pavilion covering more than 420 sq m, which is standing as a one-on-one business matchmaking platform.
An officer from the neighboring country's Trade-Investment Promotion Agency Xiamen Office said since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and South Korea in 1992, the scale of bilateral trade between the two countries has kept on rising significantly. It is expected that through this year's CIFIT, more bilateral commerce and trade between the two sides will be achieved.
Seven countries and regions, including Russia and Japan, will hold special activities to boost mutual investment. Nine countries, including Spain, Germany and Switzerland, will participate in a matchmaking activity, which is aimed at helping Chinese enterprises to go global.
A total of 168 guests from 66 countries and regions have registered to attend the fair, including embassies in China, government representatives, investment promotion agencies and business associations, as well as industry-leading enterprises.
The online activities synchronously present a grand picture of CIFIT, providing a full range of online services such as roadshows, project promotions, matchmaking conferences and information releases.
Leveraging the application of metaverse technology, organizers have also lined up a series of online display activities, including augmented reality shows and naked-eye 3D performances.
Thanks to CIFIT, Xiamen has attracted broader attention from global participants. Located on the southeast coast of China, the city is known as one of the most livable cities in China.
With its premier resources of high-end hotels and conference and exhibition facilities, the city is ramping up efforts to assist international conferences just like CIFIT.
