Recently, the international standard ISO 24040:2022 Textiles - Determination of Certain Benzotriazoles, the formulation of which was proposed and led by Fujian Fiber Inspection Center, was officially released. This is the first international standard in the textile industry formulated by Fujian Province, marking a breakthrough in the development of international standards by the Fujian Fiber Inspection Center, and also signifying a fresh achievement in the internationalization of textile standards in China.

Meanwhile, according to Fujian Province’s “14th Five-Year Plan”, modern textile and garment industry is one of the four leading manufacturing industries in Fujian. In the future, Fujian Province will optimize and upgrade the industry, expand capacity and improve quality, promote the branding and high value-added development of modern textiles and garments, enlarge and strengthen the upstream fiber raw material industry, boost the transformation and upgrading of the key links of weaving, dyeing and finishing at the middle end, and expand and enhance the application of high-end textile supply at the final end, and build the textile and garment industry into a pillar industry with a scale of one trillion yuan.

The standard was proposed by the Fujian Fiber Inspection Center in June 2018, and was officially approved by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) in May 2019. It takes nearly four years to officially release the standard. During this period, the project team participated in offline and online international conferences seven times, and carried out a lot of meticulous work, such as the preparation of drafts, verification of technical solutions, laboratory comparisons, responses to experts’ opinions and improvement of standard texts. The standard has won the unanimous recognition of international counterparts and a 100% approval rate in the DIS ballot, and the FDIS stage was skipped to advance the smooth release of the standard.
