Recently, the China Institute of Science and Technology Information of the Ministry of Science and Technology has released the 2021 National Innovative City List, which comprehensively evaluates the innovation capability of 78 innovative cities in China. Two cities in Fujian Province are among the top 30, namely Xiamen (12th) and Fuzhou (28th).

It is learned that the cities involved in the ranking are national innovative cities, that is, they have been included in the list of innovative cities determined by the Ministry of Science and Technology. An innovation-based city takes scientific and technological innovation as the core driving force of urban economic and social development. It has a complete and effective innovation governance system, vigorous innovation subjects, efficiently configured innovation elements, a powerful innovation platform, and a competitive innovation economy. The innovation-based city plays a significant supporting and leading role in building innovative provinces and countries.
