Maritime Silk Road exchanges expanded at 21st CIFIT

The 2021 Silk Road Maritime International Cooperation Forum, a supporting event of the 21st China International Fair for Investment and Trade (CIFIT), was held on Sept 8 in Xiamen, Fujian province.

The 2021 Silk Road Maritime International Cooperation Forum is held 

on Sept 8 in Xiamen, Fujian province 

during the 21st China International Fair for Investment and Trade.


Hosted by the Fujian Provincial People's Government and the China Institute of Navigation, the forum aims to promote connectivity, port and shipping cooperation, and cultural exchanges, as well as serve the development of the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road.


The eighth batch of silk road shipping routes was released. These routes involve six Chinese ports: Guangzhou port, Qingdao port, Tianjin port, Xiamen port, Qinzhou port and Fuzhou port.


There are presently 80 silk road shipping routes connecting 99 ports in 27 countries around the world.

At the forum, the Silk Road Maritime Alliance welcomed six new members, bringing the total number of member to over 210. The new members are PSA International, Guangzhou Port Group, China Railway Container Transport Corp, Dalian Maritime University, New Land-Sea Corridor Operation Co and Huayuan International Land Port.


Tan Chong Meng, CEO of PSA International, said in a video address that COVID-19 has had an unprecedented impact on the world and that PSA believes the Silk Road Maritime Alliance will play a greater role in promoting the connectivity of the global supply chain and providing a new channel for international trade between China, ASEAN, the United States and Europe.


Fujian province, the central area of the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road, has been ramping up efforts to further promote its transportation links, economic cooperation and cultural exchanges with other regions along the trade route.
