Dongqiao Economic and Technological Development Zone is a national development zone. After 20 years of development, it has become an important carrier for the development of local industries and the main platform for central city construction. It covers an area of 40.7 square kilometers and has a population of about 100,000. In 2016, the actual use of foreign capital reaches 32.06 million US dollars.

Industrial agglomeration is remarkable. It has gathered four pillar industries including the new energy, bio-medicine, electric motors and appliances, aquatic food processing. Among them, the new energy products dominate the market. In the year  of 2016, the market share of batteries for consumer electronics and power batteries manufactured by the new energy company leaps into the first and the second place in the world respectively. We are making great efforts to build a 100-billion new energy industrial cluster.

Companies facilitate innovation-driven development. There are two national post-doctoral research stations, five provincial engineering and technology research centers, two academicians' workstations, six provincial high-tech enterprises, two key laboratories, one expert of national 1,000 Talents Plan, five experts of  provincial 100 Talents Plan and one team.

Transportation is convenient. Dongqiao Economic and Technological Development Zone is the seat of Ningde administrative center.The world-class natural deep-water port—Sandu Bay is located in the east of Dongqiao with 50,000 tons of terminals available. Shenhai expressway and Fuwen railway run through the area.

Ecological environment is beautiful. City surrounded by the water, water within the city. 3800 acres of East Lake and the north and south shore landscape constitute the core area of the national wetland park. The East Lake ecological landscape has won the China Habitat Environment Award, the title of National Water Scenic Spot and Excellent Living Environment.

City infrastructure is well developed. Schools, hospitals and other supporting facilities are available. Public service facilities meet the standardized requirements. There are a number of landmark structures such as Sports Center, Art Galleries and Convention Center and so forth. The regional business atmosphere is so strong that many central business district patterns have formed with Wanda Plaza, Wal-Mart, and Lianxin Fortune Plaza as centers.
