Fuzhou Economic and Technological Development Zone

Fuzhou Economic and Technological Development Zone was launched in January 1985 with the approval of the State Council. It is among the first group of 14 state-level economic and technological development zones. It covers a land mass of 23 square kilometers and borders on a coast line of approximately 59.8 kilometers. Its administrative jurisdiction covers three towns (Mawei, Tingjiang and Langqi) and one sub-district (Luoxing Sub-district). It is also commissioned to manage Langqi Economic Zone.

Introduction

Fuzhou Economic and Technological Development Zone was launched in January 1985 with the approval of the State Council. It is among the first group of 14 state-level economic and technological development zones. It covers a land mass of 23 square kilometers and borders on a coast line of approximately 59.8 kilometers. Its administrative jurisdiction covers three towns (Mawei, Tingjiang and Langqi) and one sub-district (Luoxing Sub-district). It is also commissioned to manage Langqi Economic Zone. 

In 2016, the GDP of the development zone reached 42.491 billion RMB, a rise of 8.1%. The added value generated by the above designated size enterprises reached 26.605 billion RMB, a rise of 7.7%. The general public budgetary revenue reached 3.438 billion RMB, a rise of 8.1%, and the local general public budgetary revenue 2.146 billion RMB, a rise of 16.2%. The fixed asset investment amounted to 30.974 billion RMB, a 13.1% increase and the total retails of consumer goods 16 billion RMB, a 16.5% increase. The export volume was 18.41 billion RMB, a 9.5% increase and the utilized foreign investment 293 million USD, a 12.2% increase.   

After more than three decades of development, Fuzhou Economic and Technological Development Zone has developed into a unique multipurpose outward-looking industrial compound that serves simultaneously as a state-level development zone, a Taiwanese investment zone, a technology park, a processing trade zone and a pilot port of entry between Mainland China and Taiwan. On April 21, 2015, China (Fujian) Pilot Free Trade Zone was officially launched, taking in 22 kilometers of the development zone. Today, the development zone has distinguished itself as one of the most attractive investment destinations in Fuzhou for multinationals and listed companies. The leading industries have taken shape, for example, electronics and information technology, electrical machinery, equipment manufacture, metal smelting and rolling, transportation equipment manufacture, food processing, etc.    

Highlights of investment from other Asian countries: 1. Hitachi Digital Products China (from Japan), mainly engaged in the development, manufacture and sales of plasma TVs, LCD TVs, LCD projectors and other visionary, information and telecommunication equipment; 2. Panasonic Electrical Construction Materials Fuzhou (from Japan); 3. Nippon Electric Glass Fuzhou (from Japan), specialized in the manufacture of tapered capillaries for kinescopes.
