A Czech delegation visited the Xiamen Bureau of Convention and Exhibition Affairs on Feb 24 and expressed its hope to win their bid for the Guest Country of Honor title for the China International Fair for Investment & Trade (CIFIT) in 2017.
The Czech delegation was led by Klara Jurcova, deputy head of mission at the Embassy of the Czech Republic in China, and accompanied by representatives from CEFC China Energy Company Limited, a strategic partner with CIFIT.
Czech President Milos Zeman will visit China again this May. In the follow-up of the presidential visit, the Czech Embassy in China plans to pursue the Guest Country of Honor title, according to Klara Jurcova.
Cheng Guoqing, general manager of CEFC, said the Czech Republic’s bid is of great significance and CEFC will give it full support.
The organizing committee also expressed its welcome to the Czech bid and will help Czech Republic with related promotional activities.
Qiu Guoyue, deputy director of the Xiamen Bureau of Convention and Exhibition Affairs, presented fruitful results achieved at the 19th CIFIT last year as well as the latest preparation, highlights, and activities of the Guest Country of Honor for the 2017 fair.
The 19th CIFIT, held after the 2016 G20 Summit, was an act to implement the consensus reached at the summit. The 2017 CIFIT, as the first international fair after the 9th BRICS Summit in Xiamen this September, will also implement the related economic and trade consensus.
The Czech Republic, situated in the heart of Europe, maintains a good relationship with China in both diplomatic and business fields. Last March, President Xi Jinping paid a state visit to the Czech Republic and reached a joint declaration of strategic partnership with the country, which pushed the two countries’ cooperation to a historic high level.
The 2017 CIFIT will be held in Xiamen, a coastal city in Fujian province, China, from Sept 18 to 21 and the Xiamen Bureau of Convention and Exhibition Affairs is an organizer.
