On the morning of September 8, Vice President Han Zheng attended and addressed the opening ceremony of the 26th China International Fair for Investment and Trade (CIFIT) in Xiamen, Fujian Province.

Han Zheng noted that President Xi Jinping has repeatedly stressed China's unwavering commitment to expanding high-standard opening up and advancing trade and investment liberalization and facilitation. The world is now entering a new period of turbulence and transformation, with uncertainties and destabilizing factors markedly on the rise. However, the historical trend toward openness and cooperation remains unchanged. As an important platform for deepening global investment cooperation, CIFIT, with its permanent theme of "Expanding Two-Way Investment and Promoting Global Development," has taken on even greater relevance.

Han Zheng put forward three suggestions. First, continue to open up new prospects for win-win cooperation. China has already implemented zero-tariff policies for 63 countries, removed all market access restrictions on foreign investment in the manufacturing sector, and is steadily opening up service sectors such as telecommunications and healthcare. China will continue to actively expand voluntary opening up and introduce more practical measures to facilitate investment in China. Han Zheng expressed the hope that enterprises from all countries will seize the opportunities presented by China's opening up and development, continue to deepen their presence in the Chinese market, and achieve mutual benefit and win-win outcomes.

Second, accelerate the cultivation of new drivers for innovative growth. Scientific and technological innovation and industrial progress are key drivers of global economic development and represent hotspots and priorities in international investment and trade cooperation. China adheres to the principles of complementary strengths, equality, and mutual benefit, and strengthens international cooperation on scientific, technological, and industrial innovation. China is willing to work with all parties to jointly build and safeguard an open global innovation ecosystem and foster new growth drivers that benefit the world.

Third, jointly maintain stable and smooth industrial chains. China is an important link in global supply chains and a co-builder and defender of the global industrial division of labor system. In the face of rising trade protectionism and geopolitical risks, China is ready to work with all parties to promote the development of global industrial and supply chains in a more stable, smooth, and inclusive direction, jointly uphold the multilateral trading system, and make the pie of cooperation and development bigger.

Han Zheng stated that amid the current complex and intertwined international landscape, the more turbulent the times, the more necessary it is to strengthen the bonds of cooperation, promote a universally beneficial and inclusive economic globalization, and create a better future of shared prosperity and development.

In his address, Zhou Zuyi, Secretary of the CPC Fujian Provincial Committee and Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Fujian Provincial People's Congress, said that on the new journey of the new era, Fujian will thoroughly study and implement the spirit of President Xi Jinping's important congratulatory letter, earnestly implement the four major initiatives on global development, security, civilization, and governance, further expand institutional opening up, upgrade the capacity of opening-up platforms, and foster a first-class business environment. Fujian will promote deeper reform through high-level opening up, advance high-quality development in all respects, and strive to be at the forefront of Chinese modernization. Fujian has a solid development foundation, robust momentum, and vast space for growth, making it fertile ground for innovation, entrepreneurship, and creation. He warmly welcomed all participants to invest and do business in Fujian, working together for shared prosperity and a win-win future.

Luo Dongchuan, Governor of Qinghai Province, the guest province of honor; Meng Fanli, Governor of Guangdong Province, the other guest province of honor; Pedro Manuel Moreno, Acting Secretary-General of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD); Ibrahim Al-Mubarak, Assistant Minister of Investment of Saudi Arabia, the guest country of honor; Adrijana Mesarović, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy of Serbia; Sun Chanthol, Deputy Prime Minister and First Vice Chairman of the Council for the Development of Cambodia; and Alexander Poulev, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy, Investment and Industry at Ministry of Economy and Industry of Bulgaria, attended the opening ceremony and delivered speeches successively. Sakari Puisto, Minister of Economic Affairs of Finland, the other guest country of honor, read out a congratulatory letter from Finnish Prime Minister Petteri Orpo.

Zhao Long, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Fujian Provincial Committee and Governor of Fujian Province, and Teng Jiacai, Chairman of the Fujian Provincial Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), attended the ceremony. Officials from relevant central government ministries and state-owned enterprises, as well as leaders from various provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities), were also present. Government officials and diplomatic envoys from multiple countries, representatives of international organizations, overseas investment promotion agencies, business associations, compatriots from Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan, overseas Chinese community leaders, representatives of overseas financial and quasi-financial institutions, and corporate representatives participated in the opening ceremony.

Prior to the opening ceremony, Han Zheng toured the CIFIT exhibition halls, visiting the pavilions of guest countries of honor, Saudi Arabia and Finland, as well as dedicated zones for finance, provincial and municipal promotions, and China investment. He interacted with heads of delegations from guest countries of honor and exhibitors, encouraging them to make full use of the CIFIT platform to strengthen business negotiations and deepen two-way investment cooperation.

On the afternoon of September 7, Han Zheng held a group meeting with representatives of multinational corporations and foreign business associations attending CIFIT. He stated that economic globalization is unstoppable and expressed the hope that multinational corporations will seize the broad opportunities presented by China's super-sized market and the development of new quality productive forces, strengthen confidence in investing in China, and achieve mutual benefit and win-win outcomes.
