The survival and growth of enterprises at every stage of the industrial chain rely on mutual cooperation. During a visit to Fujian, reporters found that a group of high-tech companies has enhanced their resilience against market risks and steadily unlocked new growth potential through collaborative development and innovation.
The lithium battery industry in the renewable energy sector has emerged as a competitive force in Fujian. Leading the industry is CATL, which has maintained the world’s highest shipment volume for several years. In recent years, Fujian has leveraged its leading enterprises to drive cluster-based development across the entire industrial chain.
Currently, Ningde City in eastern Fujian is home to over 80 companies in the lithium battery industry in the renewable energy sector, spanning the full supply chain—from cathodes, anodes, and separators to electrolytes and battery recycling. This allows leading enterprises to source 80% of their materials locally, fostering coordinated growth in the lithium battery industry.
Ningde Skeqi Engineering Automation Co., Ltd., a smart equipment manufacturer, supplies customized production lines to industry leaders such as CATL. Zheng Ting, Assistant to the General Manager, noted that under CATL’s leadership, Skeqi has sustained strong sales growth for multiple consecutive years and recently significantly expanded its production capacity.
In the workshop of Hifen Testing Technology Co., Ltd. in Ningde, equipment was neatly arranged in the battery performance testing channel, where lithium battery modules were undergoing inspection. “We are responsible for ensuring the quality of lithium batteries, and they must pass reliability testing before entering the market,” said Wang Ming, head of the company’s laboratory. According to Wang, CATL is one of their clients. Hifen Testing has seen its performance soar for several consecutive years, with orders continuing to increase this year.
In the traditional manufacturing hub of Jinjiang, Quanzhou, the strong momentum of high-tech industry development is also evident. Upon entering the integrated circuit industrial park in Jinjiang, rows of modern buildings come into view. Leveraging the advantages of a well-developed industrial chain cluster, a growing number of integrated circuit companies are choosing to establish operations in Jinjiang.
Fujian Good One Technology Co., Ltd., which specializes in the research, development, and production of integrated circuit wafer transfer equipment, established its presence here early last year. General Manager Gu Zhiliang stated that the industrial park has brought together a range of upstream and downstream enterprises within the industry chain, facilitating communication and collaboration among them.
Currently, Jinjiang's integrated circuit industry is gaining significant momentum, with more than 50 industrial chain projects established and a total investment exceeding RMB 100 billion. This has gradually created an industrial ecosystem that spans the entire supply chain, including integrated circuit design, manufacturing, packaging and testing, equipment materials, support services, and end-use applications.
To strengthen the industrial chain by addressing weaknesses and building on existing strengths, upstream and downstream enterprises—ranging from large corporations to small and medium-sized businesses—are working together. This collaboration is fostering a robust ecosystem for the development of emerging industries in Fujian. Currently, Fujian has established 4 national and 17 provincial-level strategic emerging industrial clusters, and is home to more than 14,500 national high-tech enterprises.
