On the 17th, Minister Jin Zhuanglong of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology stated that China has essentially established a comprehensive intelligent connected vehicle (ICV) industry framework. This framework encompasses components such as basis chips, sensors, computing platforms, chassis control, and network cloud control. China is a global leader in technologies like human-machine interaction and is making swift progress in areas such as steer-by-wire and active suspension systems.
Jin Zhuanglong made the above statement at the opening ceremony of the 2024 World Intelligent Connected Vehicles Conference held that day.
Under a comprehensive industrial framework, high-quality enterprises are flourishing. Jin Zhuanglong highlighted that China has nurtured nearly 400 "Little Giant" enterprises that use specialized and sophisticated technologies to produce novel and unique products within the ICV industry. Notably, 5 of the nation's lidar enterprises have ranked among the top 10 globally in sales, and 9 automakers are conducting pilot programs for conditionally automated driving models. Simultaneously, infrastructure development is progressing rapidly. Over 50 cities nationwide have initiated ICV road testing demonstrations, opening up 32,000 kilometers of test roads. Approximately 10,000 kilometers of roads have been upgraded with intelligent technology, and more than 8,700 roadside units have been installed.
The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology's next step is to strengthen the foundational capabilities of the industry, establish a new industrial ecosystem, enhance infrastructure systems, optimize the industrial development environment, and promote the high-quality and sustainable growth of China's ICV industry.
The 2024 World Intelligent Connected Vehicles Conference, co-hosted by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Ministry of Transport, and the People’s Government of Beijing Municipality, is set to take place in Beijing from the 17th to the 19th. Over 250 domestic and international vehicle manufacturers, core component enterprises, and institutions participated in the exhibition, showcasing more than 200 new technologies and products.
