On August 14, the Fujian Provincial Department of Industry and Information Technology convened a work conference aimed at advancing the growth of the electric boat industry and the implementation of demonstration stations for integrated photovoltaic power generation, storage, battery recharging and inspection. Officials at the conference highlighted that Fujian has largely connected the upstream and downstream parts of the electric boat industry chain. A complete industrial chain of electric ships has taken hold in Fujian, encompassing R&D, design, general assembly and construction, as well as the development of battery, motor and control systems, and their supporting operation and application to ships.

The complete industrial chain of electric ships currently involves 56 enterprises and institutions. To date, 53 ships of 11 types have been launched as demonstration projects across the province, encompassing application scenarios such as rivers, lakes and seas. Notably, three of these ship types have received support from state-level research programs.

“Moving forward, Fujian will continue to accelerate the high-quality development of the electric boat industry, with a focus on promoting ship electrification, standardizing ship types, fostering industrial clustering, integrating shore-based and ship-mounted power supply systems, facilitating market-oriented operations, and providing convenient services,” said Shi Huicai, Chief Engineer of the Fujian Provincial Department of Industry and Information Technology. “Additionally, we will strive to establish a distinctive industrial base for electric boats.”

In addition, Fujian will further enhance the development of the industrial chain of integrated photovoltaic power generation, storage, battery recharging and inspection. The province will support enterprises in adopting innovative modes of investment, construction and operation. Currently, 11 integrated stations have been completed in Fuzhou, Ningde and Longyan, with 900 more in the planning phase. More than 60% of the key components of the fundamental facilities in Fujian related to photovoltaic power generation, storage, battery recharging and inspection are locally manufactured within the province.
