On Mar 28, China Center for Information Industry Development (CCID), a research institute affiliated with the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), issued CCID Research Report on Top 100 Innovation Pacesetters 2023, complete with CCID List of Top 100 Innovation Pacesetters 2023. The first three spots are given to Nanshan District and Bao’an District in Shenzhen City, and Tianhe District in Guangzhou City. Four districts in Fujian province are included in the list. Gulou District in Fuzhou City secured the 18th place. Siming District and Huli District in Xiamen City, and Jiaocheng District in Ningde City are in the 31st, 59th and 79th spots, respectively.
The report constructs an evaluation system through four major indices which are subdivided into 16 minor ones. The former has four categories, i.e. innovation ecosystem, driver, pacesetter and achievement. The latter includes GDP, R&D strength and the number of high-tech company. An in-depth analysis was conducted to evaluate influencing factors such as environment, service, entity and efficiency.
The analysis shows that the top 100 innovation pacesetters have become a magnet for 125,000 high-tech companies, and 1,814 businesses which are acclaimed as “ascendant giants” maintaining a distinct edge. They have set outstanding examples in how to strengthen independent innovation, build robust innovation ecosystems, and make breakthroughs.
