After conducting an acceptance review of the newly built China (Fujian) IP Protection Center, a panel of experts from the China National Intellectual Property Administration gave it a pass on 10th June, according to the Fujian Provincial Administration for Market Management. The center is the third government organization dedicated to IP protection in Fujian, with the other two located in Quanzhou and Ningde. It is also the 11th IP protection center in the country to provide fast coordinated IP protection for all parts of an entire province.

Fujian Provincial Intellectual Property Administration is the first among its counterparts to try to build an integrated IP protection system working at the provincial, municipal, and county levels. It aims to keep expanding the coverage of its fast coordinated IP protection within the province and develop a new IP protection system that is sound, comprehensive, readily accessible, and highly efficient. Today, with three state-level IP protection centers, i.e. China (Fujian), China (Quanzhou), and China (Ningde), and two quick-service IP protection centers in Xiamen and Jinjiang, which are dedicated to kitchen and bathroom products, and footwear, apparel and food, respectively, Fujian has managed to provide a more favorable environment for innovators and businesses while effecting deep integration of IP protection and socio-economic development.

The center tasks itself with building a state-level IP platform integrating six core functions, i.e. accelerated patent examination, circuit oral hearing, quick patent-related IPR services, fast coordinated protection, enhancement of industrial competitiveness, and specialist training. By doing so, it aims to provide a solution to a number of prominent existing problems, including inadequate support rendered by technological innovation to specific industries, inadequate generation of property rights for technological innovation, high costs of IP protection and IP-related proceedings, and inadequate awareness of IPR protection. Its purpose is to accelerate a sweeping upgrade of the local machinery, electronics, and information industries for the development of a provincial system of modern industries.
