X. Science, Technology, and Education

A total of 36 provincial industrial technology research institutes and 31 provincial industrial technology innovation strategic alliances have been laid out. There are 10 state key laboratories, 4 provincial innovation laboratories, 245 provincial key laboratories, 7 national engineering technology research centers, 527 provincial engineering technology research centers, and 204 provincial new R&D institutions in Fujian Province. Fujian Province has built 72 national creative spaces and 344 provincial creative spaces. And also 194 technology business incubators and 3,754 enterprises are under incubation. There are 30 newly identified national technological innovation demonstration enterprises, 75 national enterprise technology centers, and 517 provincial enterprise technology centers. A total of 153,814 patents were granted, including 12,561 invention patents. By the end of the year, there were 62,156 valid invention patents, an increase of 22.5% over the same period of the previous year, and the number of invention patents per 10,000 population was 14.9. Throughout the year, 447,000 trademarks were registered, an increase of 34.7% over the previous year. A total of 16,320 technical contracts were registered throughout the year, with a turnover of 21.44 billion yuan.

At the end of the year, a total of 1,654 institutions passed the inspection and testing qualification certification, an increase of 188 over the previous year.

A total of 26,800 students were enrolled in master programs, with 76,600 current students and 16,500 graduates. A total of 315,000 students were enrolled in regular colleges and junior colleges (including 161,200 students enrolled in higher vocational colleges), 1,023,400 current students, and 224,700 graduates. The employment rate of graduates from regular institutions of higher learning was 94.12%. The completion rate of nine-year compulsory education was 99.23%, and the gross enrollment rate of senior high school was 97.03%.

XI. Cultural Tourism, Health, and Sports

At the end of the year, there were 69 state-owned performing arts troupes, 117 archives at all levels, 95 public libraries, 97 cultural centers, 99 museums and 39 non-state-owned museums in the cultural system.

At the end of the year, there were 367 cinemas and 7,343,800 cable TV users, with a digitalization rate of 100%. The comprehensive coverage rate of radio programs reached 99.85%; the comprehensive coverage rate of TV programs reached 99.87%.

A total of 5097 kinds of books were published throughout the year, with a total print run of 149 million copies.

A total of 651,100 inbound tourists were received, down 71.7% from the previous year. A total of 406.8051 million domestic tourists were received, an increase of 15.6%. Total income from the tourism sector reached 489.404 billion yuan, an increase of 2.8%.

At the end of the year, there were 28,700 medical and health institutions at all levels, including 709 hospitals, 892 health centers, and 16,800 village clinics.

Throughout the year, athletes from Fujian Province won 49 gold medals, 35 silver medals, and 40 bronze medals in the highest level competitions in China.

Throughout the year, 6 national fitness centers and 20 smart sports parks were newly built in the practical projects for the people.

XII. Resources, Environment and Emergency Management

The total supply of state-owned construction land throughout the year was 15,900 hectares, an increase of 2.5% over the previous year.

The total amount of water resources throughout the year reached 75.8 billion cubic meters.

The total area of afforestation throughout the year reached 71,600 hectares. The forest coverage rate was 66.8%. There are 357 nature reserves. There are 2 world natural heritages (including both natural and cultural heritages) and 2 world geological parks.

The overall water quality of the main river basins is excellent, and the proportion of Class I-III water quality reaches 97.3%.

The proportion of days when air quality reached the standard in "nine cities and one district" reaches 99.2%.

The harmless treatment rate of domestic garbage in cities and counties reaches 100%, and the sewage treatment rate in cities and counties reaches 97%.

A total of 986 production safety accidents occurred, down 16.9% from the previous year; a total of 684 people died, down 6.9%; no major accidents have taken place. The fatality rate of production safety accidents in areas of 100 million yuan GDP stood at 0.014, down 17.6% from the previous year.
