Nylon is a kind of polymer containing a constitutional repeating unit of NHCO on the macromolecular chain, formed by polycondensation of diamine and binary acid and by self-polymerization of amino acid lactam. It is one of the five major engineering plastics with the largest yield. Now, it centers on PA6 and PA66. Bio-based PA56 is China-made of 100% proprietary intellectual property right, physical properties of which are similar to PA66. relying much on import. Bio-based PA56 is China-made of 100% proprietary intellectual property right, technologically developed by Shanghai Cathay Biotech Inc., breaking the monopoly of overseas companies on the domestic diamine market. Cathay Biotech started a 200,000t/a Bio-based PA56 Project in Jinxiang, Shandong in 2016, and preliminary work of the Project has been completed at present. Besides, Eppen Biotech Co., Ltd. also plans to build a 200,000t/a Bio-based PA56 Experimental Line Project in Chifeng. As the textile industry of Fujian Province tends to be mature, a 400,000t/a Polyamide Integrated Project will also be built in the New Materials Industrial Park of Lianjiang Kemen Economic Development Zone. Now, as China already possesses mature bio-based lysine-producing-pentamethylene diamine technology and the Park owns a strong industrial base of PA6, we consider purchasing bio-based pentamethylene diamine-producing-PA56 project and building the Park into a nationwide famous nylon-production base.

In recent years, Fujian Province has seen a growing agglomeration effect in its new materials industry, with a gradually improving innovation system and an expanding variety of materials. The production processes and output of stainless steel materials, ternary cathode materials, tungsten wire for lighting, high-performance automotive aluminum alloy sheets, laser and nonlinear optical crystals and devices, among others, rank among the highest in China. Leading enterprises such as Tsingtuo Group, CATL, Highsun Holding Group, Xiamen Tungsten, Zijin Mining Group, and Deer Technology have been cultivated. Driven by these industry leaders, Fujian has initially formed influential specialty new materials clusters, including lithium battery materials, stainless steel materials, advanced functional textile materials, advanced chemical materials, rare earth materials, and graphene.
