Fujian released on April 22, the Digital Economy Development Index Evaluation Report. It details how the province’s digital economy has exceeded 2 trillion RMB and the digital economic development index up to 74.58, accounting for more than 45% of the province’s GDP. Its scale and level remain at the forefront of the country.

As a pioneer in exploring e-government, digital economy, and smart society, Fujian has continually pushed forward the construction of information technology since October 2000, and the results have been fruitful indeed.

2020 witnessed the completion of 23,000 5G base stations in Fujian, enabling the full coverage of areas above the county level (including key towns). The high-quality industrial Internet external network has covered all prefectures and cities in the province. Fujian now operates 13 national and provincial key laboratories, 45 engineering (technology) research centers (engineering laboratories), and 28 enterprise technology centers in the digital economy field.

Immediately following the conclusion of the 3rd Digital China Summit in October last year, the Online Service Hall of Fujian Province launched a service zone providing inter-provincial government services. The first batch of inter-provincial windows handled 134 items of affairs, with more than 157,000 items handled online throughout the process, effectively eliminating the inconvenience of “visits to multiple places and frequent visits” by enterprises and the masses for completing their affairs. Fujian is also leading the effort to build the Fujian-Hainan-Guangxi inter-provincial government service platform, 690 high-frequency government service items can be self-handled .

Fujian was rated “excellent” for its digital government service capability and ranked among the best nationwide in terms of enterprises’ satisfaction with the government service environment.
