Recently, the CCID Consulting Advanced Manufacturing Research Center of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, released the list of the 2023 top 100 cities in the advanced manufacturing industry. Six cities in Fujian Province - Xiamen, Fuzhou, Quanzhou, Ningde, Putian, and Zhangzhou - have been included in the list, ranking 18th, 20th, 29th, 79th, 86th, and 93rd, respectively. Shenzhen, Suzhou, and Guangzhou secured the top three positions on the list.

Advanced manufacturing is a crucial means to construct a modern industrial system, foster the development of new driving forces, and promote high-quality economic development. It reflects the level of capabilities and core competitiveness of a city. Systematic study and comprehensive evaluation were conducted on the development of advanced manufacturing in 293 prefecture-level cities across the country based on five primary indicators - innovation capability, integrated development, economic drive, brand quality, and green and intensive development - as well as 24 secondary indicators for the 2023 list of the top 100 cities in the advanced manufacturing industry.

According to statistics, in 2023, the top 100 cities in the advanced manufacturing industry collectively have 285,000 high-tech enterprises, accounting for 71% of the total number of high-tech enterprises in China. In 2022, these cities held 11,000 PCT international patent authorizations, representing 75% of the national total.
